Winning Students to Perform at Met May 1

Three Gonzaga University students are winners in the 2006 Gonzaga University Student Concerto Competition, and will perform as soloists in concert with the Gonzaga University Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 1 at The Met in downtown Spokane.

The competition, which was held Feb. 26 at Gonzaga, was adjudicated by Morihiko Nakahara, associate conductor of the Spokane Symphony. The winners and their hometowns are as follows:

  • Evan Everist, senior in music performance from Brandon, S.D., and plays classical guitar.
  • Andrea Woods, a freshman in the Honors Program from Bothell, Wash., and plays the flute.
  • Matthew Habjan, a senior engineering major from Lebanon, Ore., and plays the oboe.
