The Gonzaga University School of Business and the Dean’s Business Forum will host James A. McDevitt, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, at 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2 in the Jepson Center’s Wolff Auditorium. The lecture, which costs $15 and is open to the public, includes breakfast starting at 7 a.m. The title of his lecture is, “White Collar Crime In Eastern Washington.”
A graduate of both Gonzaga University (MBA, ’75) and the Gonzaga School of Law, (J.D., ’74), McDevitt was appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2001. While in private practice, James counseled local, national and international businesses on such issues as antitrust, business organization, and sales and acquisitions of stock or assets.
He has a broad range of experience in international transactions on behalf of a number of clients, as well as extensive civil litigation experience at both the trial court and appellate level.
McDevitt also is a veteran of the Vietnam and Gulf wars. Following a 35-year career of active and reserve duty, he retired as a brigadier general in the Washington Air National Guard. McDevitt resides in Spokane with wife Gretchen. They have two grown sons, Darby and Brendan.
