More Gonzaga alumni, parents and friends are supporting students than ever before – even in this most challenging economy. A key part of this success can be traced to the very people who inspire donors: the students who call on them for the Gonzaga University Telefund.
More than 30 students, from freshmen to seniors with a wide variety of majors, work for the Telefund each semester. These Zags spend their evenings asking people connected to Gonzaga to support the University. Through each student’s work and the tremendous generosity of the Gonzaga family, the Telefund has shattered previous fundraising records to reach an unprecedented $700,000!
Those funds are pledged to an array of student needs, especially scholarships, to improve their academic experience. Our student callers learn not only about the importance of giving, they gain valuable communication skills, build relationships, learn to negotiate, and benefit from working for a team.
Our students say one of the best things about their work is that each day brings something different. Their work includes repetition, heartbreak, and overwhelmingly positive walks down memory lane. A great conversation or a gift to enhance their education remains the highlight of every shift.
The resounding “thank you,” said so genuinely by the student callers, is a message for all 12,000-plus benefactors: Thank you for your support this past academic year, and thank you for sharing in and making possible Gonzaga students’ success. Each of you is a True Zag.
Friendly Reminder: To fulfill your pledge by May 31, the end of our fiscal year, visit the following secure Gonzaga site.
