Professor Aziz Co-Authors Thermal, Fluid Engineering Book

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University mechanical engineering Professor Abdul Aziz has co-authored the book, “Introduction to Thermal and Fluid Engineering,” with A.D Kraus and James R. Welty. The book is published by CRC Press, Boca Raton, Fla., and results from a six-year effort by the authors. CRC Press is the leading publisher of engineering books in the United States and worldwide.

Combining coverage of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer, the book is designed for a one- or two-semester course for a variety of engineering majors. Aziz is the author or co-author of four other books, two handbook chapters, and more than 120 scholarly research papers. He received the Exemplary Faculty Award from Gonzaga in 2011, the Alpha Sigma Nu National Jesuit Book Award (2001), and the American Society of Engineering Education’s Centennial Award (1993).

In addition, Professor Aziz was named Gonzaga’s Distinguished Scholar of the Year (1992). He was honored with a gold medal at his undergraduate commencement (1963) for graduating first in his class in two degree programs (mechanical and electrical engineering) at University of Karachi (Pakistan). Aziz has been a recipient of the U.S. Army Summer Faculty Research Fellowship for six years, has delivered several invited lectures in the United States and abroad, and has served as a reviewer for journals, publishers and public and private agencies.

Aziz has been a Life Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers since 1993 and serves on its national Aerospace Heat Transfer Committee. He has taught at Gonzaga since 1982. CRC Press is the leading publisher of engineering books in the United States and worldwide.
