SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University Theatre Arts will present “Twelve Angry Jurors” as the first installment this academic year of the Second Stage Readers Theatre Series. The play will be staged at 7:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday, Nov. 11-12, in the Harry and Colleen Magnuson Theatre at Gonzaga.
The Second Stage Readers Theatre Series is a collection of shows directed and produced by students and alumni of the theatre program. “Twelve Angry Jurors” will be directed by Katie Haster, a May graduate of Gonzaga who is excited to continue her involvement in the program – from a new perspective.
The production is based on the 1954 television play “Twelve Angry Men,” written by Reginald Rose, which led to the 1957 film classic by the same name starring Henry Fonda for which Rose received Oscar nominations for Best Screenplay and Best Picture (as co-producer). The stage version was first produced in 1964 and revised several times; it was filmed for Showtime in 1997.
The Magnuson Theatre is located on the main floor, east end of Gonzaga’s College Hall, formerly known as the Administration Building. A $2 donation at the door is encouraged to help support the arts at Gonzaga; there will be no advanced ticket sales for this production.
