SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University launched its yearlong 125th Anniversary celebration during commencement ceremonies May 12-13. Coinciding with the kick-off, Gonzaga also unveiled a 125th Anniversary website — gonzaga.edu/125 — where visitors can reflect on Gonzaga’s past, look to its future, and stay informed on major events tied to the 125th anniversary and the School of Law’s 100th anniversary (which begins this fall).
The anniversary theme of “Tradition and Transformation” is reflected throughout the site. The Tradition section features an interactive timeline of milestones in Gonzaga’s storied history, slideshows of images from each decade, and access to online archives of yearbooks and other artifacts from yesteryear. The Transformation section presents stories of Gonzaga students, faculty, and alumni influencing their world, tales of how Gonzaga transformed them, and news about how the University is changing to remain at the forefront as higher education, technology and society undergo major shifts.
An Events section includes information on all anniversary-related events. Many activities are planned to celebrate students, alumni, staff, and supporters by inviting them to campus for events such as Anniversary Celebration Week, Zagapalooza All Class Alumni Reunion, and the first National Gonzaga Day linking Zags’ fans nationwide to a nationally televised men’s basketball game. Of course, information on participating in these events is on the site as well.
The Galleries section offers a variety of photo slideshows and videos as well as Gonzaga-themed images that can be downloaded for use as desktop and mobile device wallpapers or social media pages. The site also will allow those looking to capture a piece of Gonzaga lore to reserve a copy of the limited-edition Gonzaga 125th Anniversary or School of Law Centennial books.
Finally, don’t miss your opportunity to send us a short, simple mobile phone video clip that could be featured on National Gonzaga Day!
