SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga University Choirs cordially invite the public to their Spring Masterworks Concert, titled “Voices of Justice and Peace,” at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 22 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist (127 E. 12th Ave.).
The Gonzaga University Choir joins with Incendo music ensemble to perform Monteverdi’s “Beatus vir” and Joseph Haydn’s “Mass in Time of War.” Haydn composed this Mass as Austria was mobilizing its defenses against Napoleon, and its nickname “Paukenmesse,” derives from the prominent role for drums of war. The soloists include: Dara Scholz, soprano; Lexa Ferrill, mezzo-soprano; David Kurtenbach, tenor; and Kyle Ferrill, baritone.
The event is free to Gonzaga University faculty, staff and students, and all children under age 12. Admission is $5 for high school students and non-Gonzaga University students, $10 for adults and seniors. Seating is limited, so reserve your tickets in advance.
