Presentation Free, Open to the Public
SPOKANE, Wash. – A presentation “Heavy Traffic Ahead: Rail Impacts of Powder River Basin Coal to Asia by Way of Pacific Northwest Terminals” will begin at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 28 in the Gonzaga University School of Law Barbieri Moot Courtroom. Hosted by Gonzaga Law School’s Environmental Law Clinic, the event is free and open to the public.
Traffic expert Terry C. Whiteside, of Whiteside & Associates, Billings, Mont., will present findings from his report “Heavy Traffic Ahead,” prepared for area elected officials, policymakers and agency representatives. In addition, Spokane pediatrician and air quality expert Dr. Robert Truckner will discuss health issues related to the shipments, including air pollution, specifically coal dust and diesel particulate matter concerns. Co-sponsors of the presentation are the Gonzaga Law School Environmental Law Clinic, The Lands Council and the Spokane Riverkeeper.
