Runners take off at the start of the 2011 Human Race.

Annual 5k Run/Walk Benefits Partners In Health International Charity

SPOKANE, Wash., – Gonzaga University School of Law will host the sixth annual Human Race on Saturday, September 15. The Human Race is a five-kilometer charity fun run/walk benefiting Partners in Health, an international nonprofit organization that helps raise money for delivering life-saving health care to those who need it most in poor communities around the world. Ninety-four cents out of every dollar donated to Partners In Health goes directly to medicines and projects that will help reach their goal of breaking the cycle of poverty and disease.

The Human Race is sponsored by the Gonzaga Journal of International Law. Proceeds from The Human Race will be donated in the name of Kristina Glover, who founded The Human Race in 2007. During her third year of law school, Glover was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and lost her battle in 2008. Kristina was a wonderful and vibrant young woman who loved the world, loved to run, and loved to help others. Partners in Health is a cause she strongly believed in.

Brittany Dietz, the Public Service Editor of the Gonzaga Journal of International Law states:

This year we are looking forward to continuing Kristina’s hard work in raising money for a truly worthy cause. Last year the Human Race had more than 115 race participants. We hope last year’s runners and walkers return for the 6th annual Race, and see some new faces at the event. The Human Race continues to grow and become a much anticipated community event for Gonzaga University and the City of Spokane.”

Check-in and day-of registration will begin at 8:30 am. The run/walk will start at 9:30am at the Gonzaga University School of Law located at 721 N. Cincinnati St., Spokane. The route will continue along the Centennial Trail to Riverfront Park, then return to the Law School, where there will be festivities and awards, including prizes for the top runners will be given.
