SPOKANE, Wash. – Zagapalooza, Gonzaga’s first all-class alumni reunion weekend Oct. 19-21, marks an ideal event during Gonzaga’s 125th Anniversary year to return to campus, share memories with old friends and create new memories and friends alike. Online registration is open at Zagapalooza Central. Most events are free (and filling up fast), but you must RSVP before Oct. 7 to enter your name in great prize drawings.
Adding to the excitement, Gonzaga’s annual Fall Family Weekend for families of current students will be taking place simultaneously on campus.
All Gonzaga alumni and parents are cordially invited to this one-of-a-kind weekend, starting with a Kickoff Event from 5:30-9 p.m. Friday (Oct. 19) – a party so big it’s being held in the Spokane Convention Center (immediately following the Autumn Gala on campus). Gonzaga President Thayne McCulloh will be on hand along with special guests, beloved faculty, entertainment, and alumni from across the country.
Former Zag basketball great Matt Santangelo (’00), president of the Gonzaga Spokane Chapter, will be at the microphone alongside his radio “Voice of the Zags” co-host, Tom Hudson. Door prizes will include a trip for two to the 2013 West Coast Conference Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas.
“Keep your eyes peeled for some very recognizable alumni, Jesuits, and professors, and stay through the night to kick up your heels with dancing from the decades,” Santangelo said, adding all attendees will receive a limited-edition True Zag T-shirt. “We have a feeling Zags will be talking about this event for years to come, so don’t miss out!”
Remember: Zagapalooza’s Kickoff Event is free, but you must RSVP before Oct. 7 to get your name in the drawings!
Events on Saturday (Oct. 20) include Kraziness in the Kennel – for alumni, families of current students and the public – an exciting peek at the men’s basketball team. Other special events include “Nike: Unleashing Human Potential,” special pricing for the touring Broadway musical “Jersey Boys,” special faculty presentations, a “Video History of the Chad Mitchell Trio,” the Zagapalooza Fun Run on the Centennial Trail adjacent to campus, campus tours, Little Zag Story Time, an All-Alumni Dinner Party (at the Lincoln Center), and much more.
Most fun of all, of course, will be the opportunity to reconnect with your classmates and other Gonzaga alumni.
