SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga Concert Choir will perform the program, “Journey of the Luminous Soul: Songs of Youth, Love, and Passage,” at St. Aloysius Church on Gonzaga’s campus at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25. The concert will take place during Fall Family Weekend when families of current students are on campus.
Conducted by Gonzaga Director of Choirs and Vocal Studies Timothy Westerhaus, more than 15 students will emerge from the 70-member choir for short solos, providing a unique opportunity for the individual voices that comprise Gonzaga’s flagship choral ensemble to be heard. The concert also offers a wide variety of instrumentation, including classical guitar, percussion, a string quartet, and four-hands piano.
Musical genres represented range from Shakespearean poetry to Scottish folk music to American spirituals. The choir’s aim for the concert is to capture the essence of “youth, love, and passage” focused around the human journey of life.
