SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University Theatre Arts presents its 12th annual Spring Dance Concert, featuring a variety of styles performed by Gonzaga dance students, for three evenings at 7:30 p.m. April 25, 26 and 27, and at a 2 p.m. matinee Saturday, April 27 in the Magnuson Theatre, located in College Hall.
The concert features jazz, ballet, modern, and musical theatre routines choreographed by three dance faculty members. In addition, it will showcase a select number of student-choreographed pieces. Between numbers, there will be videos celebrating Gonzaga’s 125th Anniversary featuring some popular dance styles from Gonzaga’s history.
Dance students have worked all semester to prepare and are excited to present this final performance, said Suzanne Ostersmith, director of dance.
“This is a much bigger experience in that these students are not only learning a subject, they are applying it physically, living it and then presenting it before a live audience,” Ostersmith said. “The stakes are high. How often do you present a term paper to a public audience?”
Tickets are $5 each and available for purchase online. To reserve a ticket call the Gonzaga Theatre Box Office at (509) 313-6553. Cash, Visa, or MasterCard are accepted. For more information, please contact Summer Berry, marketing coordinator for Gonzaga Theatre Arts, at (509) 313-3606 or via email.
