LAS VEGAS — Excitement is building among Gonzaga University basketball fans who have flocked here to watch the Bulldogs women and men in their respective battles today for a West Coast Conference Basketball Championship at The Orleans Arena. The rest of Zag Nation will watch the Zags’ games live on national television. Meantime, Gonzaga’s men retained their No. 1 ranking in both major national polls today, the Associated Press and the USA Today Coaches polls.
The top-seed Gonzaga women will tip off against No. 2-seed University of San Diego at 1 p.m. on ESPNU. The top-seed Bulldog men will battle familiar WCC Tournament title foe Saint Mary’s College, the No. 2 seed, at 6 p.m. on ESPN.

The Gonzaga women are entering their seventh-straight WCC Championship game, vying for their fourth title in five years. The Bulldogs advanced to the title game after beating Brigham Young 62-43 on Saturday. They finished the regular-season with a 25-5 overall mark and a record of 15-1 in the WCC.
The 30-2 Gonzaga men, who ran the table 16-0 in the regular-season conference play, will battle Saint Mary’s for the fifth consecutive year in the WCC Tournament Championship. The Bulldogs advanced to a 16th straight championship game appearance – their 19th overall since 1992 – with a 66-48 victory Saturday over Loyola Marymount University. Saint Mary’s beat No. 6 seed University of San Diego 69-66 in overtime on Saturday.
Today’s winners earn the WCC’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
