SPOKANE, Wash. – Travel guide, TV host and author Rick Steves will discuss how to learn about the world through travel in “An Intimate Conversation with Rick Steves” at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2 at Gonzaga University’s Cataldo Hall Globe Room. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online [www.gonzaga.edu/coml].

Host and writer of the popular Public Broadcasting Service TV series “Rick Steves’ Europe,” Steves is a best-selling author of more than 40 travel books about Europe. Drawing on his own far-flung excursions to both well- and less-traveled destinations, Steves will share what he has learned about the world through people he has met in his travels and by visiting the places they call home. Steves will speak to tolerance, cultural diversity, new outlooks, and what he believes it means to be both an American and a citizen of the world.

Studying abroad is a major dynamic of Gonzaga University, which has academic programs in many locations, including Italy, where Gonzaga-in-Florence is based.

The event also includes an opportunity for audience members to get their Steves’ book signed by the author, door prizes, and a raffle to win a Rick Steves’ “Smart Travel Kit,” which includes a Rick Steves’ 21-inch Roll Aboard Travel Bag.

The event is presented by Gonzaga’s Master of Arts in Communication and Leadership Studies program in sponsorship with KSPS Public Television and the Northwest Alliance for Responsible Media.
