The annual Candlelight Christmas Concert is titled “Receive the Guest,” a phrase in the Chamber Chorus piece “Carol of the Stranger” by Abbie Betinis. “Carol of the Stranger” reflects a focus on welcoming both the Christ child and stranger – refugee, immigrant or anyone on the margins. “Invitation to Love,” performed by the Women’s Chorus, echoes this theme. Amy Porter conducts the Women’s Chorus. Timothy Westerhaus conducts the Concert Choir and Chamber Chorus while Keith Whitlock conducts the Men’s Chorus.

This concert features four Gonzaga choirs and the Spokane Brass Quintet performing music from around the world, including traditional carols in Spanish with classical guitar, marimba and vibraphone, and pieces in Russian and German. The choirs will also sing arrangements of the cherished Christmas carols “O Come, All Ye Faithful” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” in which the audiences will be invited to sing along with the Spokane Brass Quintet.

Tickets for “Receive the Guest” are $15 for the public and $10 for students and seniors for both shows. Preferred seating is $25. Children 12 and younger may attend for free. To purchase tickets, visit:
