Florence Exhibition Marks 1966 Flood

FLORENCE, Italy – Gonzaga-in-Florence, Gonzaga University’s flagship study abroad program begun here in 1963, marked the 50th anniversary of the devastating flooding of the Arno River on Nov. 4, 1966, one of the worst in Florence history, with a special exhibition on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 16 in the Mozilo Center.

Houston Directs Gonzaga-in-Florence

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University has hired Jason Houston, Ph.D., as director of its Gonzaga-in-Florence study abroad program. Houston combines scholarly expertise focused on Italian language and literature of the Medieval and Renaissance period – with special attention to Dante, Boccaccio, Petrarch and the foundation of Florentine humanism – with experience building immersion experiences for U.S. students in Italy.

Compiled by Edward Fiske, the former education editor for The New York Times, the publication has served as a top independent guide to the best schools for more than 30 years.
