SPOKANE, Wash. – Following a powerful reading and question-and-answer session with acclaimed novelist Tim O’Brien on Feb. 6, the popular Gonzaga University Writers Series continues with a free, public reading from distinguished poet Lorna Dee Cervantes at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28 in the Cataldo Hall Globe Room.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Renowned author Tim O’Brien wowed a standing-room-only audience Monday evening with a reading of “How to Tell a True War Story” from his acclaimed novel “The Things They Carried” about his experiences as a soldier in the Vietnam War. Earlier that day, he explored time, truth, and why he loathes to write but loves story.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Novelist Tim O’Brien, known for his work tapping into his experiences as a soldier in the Vietnam War, will read from his work at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 6 in the Hemmingson Center Ballroom as part of the popular Gonzaga University Visiting Writers Series. Earlier that day, O’Brien will conduct a public question-and-answer session from 1:10-2 p.m. in the Hemmingson Auditorium.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University’s College of Arts and Sciences announces its new Center for Public Humanities, directed by Brian Cooney, professor of English. The center will focus on veterans this academic year with special guests including William D. Adams, chair of the National Endowment of the Humanities, and American novelists Tim O’Brien and Whitney Terrell.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University English Professor Tod Marshall has been named the Robert K. and Ann J. Powers Professor Chair of the Humanities at Gonzaga for a two-year term effective immediately. The chair was previously held by philosophy Professor Wayne Pomerleau.
