Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Recognizes Díaz for Play ‘A La Roro’

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival has awarded Gonzaga University senior Art Por Díaz the Artists Striving to End Poverty scholarship in recognition of the play he wrote titled, “A La Roro.” The scholarship allows Díaz to attend the Artist as Citizen Conference in June at the Juilliard School in New York City.

SPOKANE, Wash. – New State Poet Laureate Tod Marshall, a Gonzaga University English professor, charmed a crowd that included Gov. Jay Inslee and key state leaders gathered today to celebrate the Connecting Washington state transportation funding, reading a poem he penned for the occasion, “There are Many Ways to Move Through Our Day.”

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Gonzaga University English Professor Tod Marshall, an award-winning poet, has been appointed the fourth Washington State Poet Laureate by Gov. Jay Inslee, the Washington State Arts Commission and Humanities Washington announced. His two-year term begins Feb. 1.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University Professor Shann (Ferch) Ray’s debut book of poems, “Balefire,” has been selected as a finalist for the High Plains Book Award in poetry. A distinguished scholar of leadership and forgiveness studies, fiction writer, and poet, Ferch is a professor in Gonzaga’s Doctoral Program in Leadership Studies.
